BEER BREAD 
3 c. self-rising flour
1 can beer (14 oz.) at room temp.
1/3 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
Fillings

Mix first four ingredients in a large bowl. Put 1/3 of the bread mixture in a greased 9x5 inch loaf pan. Sprinkle over the mixture one of the following: grated Cheddar cheese, raisins and cinnamon, dill weed, poppy seeds or finely diced onions. Add another 1/3 of bread mixture over filling; sprinkle on more filling then rest of bread mixture. Bake at 400 degrees in preheated oven. After 30 minutes, brush top of bread with beaten egg white. Bake for 15 minutes more. Turn oven down to 300 degrees. Brush top of bread with butter and bake 15 more minutes. Yield: one loaf.
