2 1/3 c. granulated sugar
2/3 c. white corn syrup
1/2 c. water
2 egg whites
1/4 tsp. salt

Butter 2 cookie sheets. Combine sugar, syrup and water. Boil until it spins a long thread from the spoon, or brittle in cold water.

Beat egg whites stiff. Stir the syrup into egg whites and beat until it stands up when dropped from spoon on cookie sheet. If it gets too stiff, add a few drops warm water and beat.
