OLD FASHIONED NUT BREAD | |
1 c. all-purpose unbleached flour 2 c. whole wheat flour 1 tbsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. salt 1 c. dark brown sugar 1 1/2 c. milk 1 c. coarsely chopped nuts Preheat the oven to 300 degrees. Combine the flours, baking powder, soda and salt in a bowl. Stir the sugar in the milk until it dissolves. Stir the milk mixture into the dry ingredients just until mixed. Add the walnuts and bake in 2 greased loaf tins (8 1/2 x 4 1/4 inches) for one hour. Turn out onto a wire rack and cool completely. |
