MOM'S FRUIT COBBLER | |
1/2 c. (1 stick) butter 2 c. sugar 2 c. water 1 1/2 c. self-rising flour 1/2 c. Crisco shortening (not oil) 1/3 c. milk 2 c. fruit 1 tsp. cinnamon if use apples Melt butter in 13x9-inch baking dish. In saucepan heat water, sugar (if peaches used or canned apples use juice instead of water). Cut shortening into flour; add milk. Place dough on floured wax paper. Roll dough in rectangle about 1/4 inch thick. Spread fruit over dough. (If use apples, sprinkle cinnamon over apples.) Roll up as jelly roll. Slice roll into about 16 slices 1/2-inch thick. Place into melted butter. Pour sugar syrup carefully around rolls. (This will look like too much liquid, but crust will absorb it.) Bake at 350 degrees for 55-60 minutes. |
