SHREDDED WHEAT BREAD | |
2 c. boiling water 2 reg. size Shredded Wheat biscuits (2 c. small biscuits) 2 tsp. salt 1/3 c. sugar 1/3 c. molasses 3 tbsp. shortening 2 pkgs. dry yeast dissolved in 1/2 c. warm water About 7 c. flour Pour boiling water over shredded wheat, add salt, sugar, molasses and shortening. Dissolve yeast in 1/2 cup warm water. When dissolved yeast and wheat mixtures have cooled, mix together, add flour and mix well. Let rise. Cut down with knife and let rise again. After second rising, knead well. Put into two 9x5 inch well greased bread pans and let rise one more time. Bake at 350 degrees about 40 minutes or until loaves sound hollow when tapped. Bread can be baked into 3 smaller loaves. |
