GRANNY'S BREAD 
2 c. lukewarm water
2 pkg. dry yeast (Fleischmann's)
2/3 c. sugar (level not heaping)
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 egg
1/4 c. Crisco
5 c. flour (use an additional 1/2 cup flour when kneading dough)

Put water in large bowl, then add yeast. Let set for 10 minutes. Add sugar, salt and 3 cups flour. Mix well. Add egg and shortening. Beat well. Add remaining flour. Let raise for 45 to 60 minutes. When done raising first time, knead with flour and separate into 2 buttered loaf pans. Let raise for another 45 to 60 minutes. Bake in oven at 300 to 350 degrees (depending on your oven) for 35 minutes. Butter loaf tops.
