SEVEN LAYER SALAD 
Head lettuce, cut up
3 stalks celery, diced
1 onion, diced
1 green pepper, diced
1 pkg. frozen peas, thawed
1 c. sour cream
1 c. Miracle Whip
3-4 tbsp. sugar
1 c. shredded cheddar cheese
1 c. crisp bacon pieces

In a 13 x 9 x 2 inch cake pan, layer the first 5 ingredients, beginning with the lettuce. Mix sour cream, Miracle Whip and sugar and spread over top like frosting. Sprinkle cheddar cheese over top and then the bacon pieces. Cover and refrigerate for several hours before eating. A layer of water chestnuts may be included if desired before the sour cream mixture. Make sure that the peas are completely thawed and not wet. Pat peas dry with paper toweling before adding to salad.
