FINNISH COFFEE BREAD 
4 tbsp. sugar
4 tbsp. butter
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cardamom
2 1/2 tsp. yeast (2 pkgs.)
1 egg, beaten
1/4 c. warm water
1 c. milk, scalded
4 c. flour

Scald milk. Dissolve sugar, salt and butter in scalded milk. Add 1 1/2 cups flour, egg and cardamom. Dissolve yeast in 1/4 cup warm water. Add to milk mixture with cardamom. Add the rest of the flour. Knead until smooth (10 minutes). Let rise until double. Punch down. Braid. Let rise until double. Bake in 350 degree oven for 30 minutes.
