DATE NUT CANDY 
3 c. sugar
1 c. milk
1 c. nuts (usually pecans)
1 (8 oz.) box dates, chopped

Cook milk and sugar to dissolve and on medium heat until it reaches hard ball stage when small amount is dropped in cold water. Add dates. Remove from heat and beat until dates become pulpy. Add nuts and beat until it cools and begins to harden. Pour on towels which are damp and roll in small roll until firm. Slice as needed or store loosely covered in refrigerator after slicing.
