GERMAN APPLE CAKE | |
5 apples, pared & sliced thin 2 tsp. cinnamon 5 tbsp. sugar 3 c. flour 2 1/3 c. sugar 4 eggs 2 tsp. vanilla 1 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt 1 c. cooking oil 1/3 c. orange juice 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder Pare apples and cut into thin slices. Mix sugar and cinnamon together, sprinkle over apples and toss; set aside. Pour into a mixing bowl the flour, sugar, salt, eggs, oil, vanilla and orange juice. Blend together with mixer on low speed for 1 minute, then 3 minutes on medium speed. Add baking soda and baking powder. Mix 1 more minute. Grease tube pan and fill with alternating layers of batter and apples. (3 layers of batter and 2 of apples, beginning and ending with batter.) Bake at 350 degrees for 1 1/2 hours. |
