TURTLES 
CARAMELS FOR TURTLES:

1 pt. white syrup
2 lb. brown sugar
1 can Eagle brand milk
1 lb. butter, (less 1 inch)
1 tbsp. vanilla
Dipping chocolate
Pecans

Boil the 5 ingredients to make a soft ball in cold water or 248 degrees. Continue stirring while it is boiling. Pour in 2 cake pans or cookie sheets. When cooled a little, cut in squares. Grease pans.

Melt dipping chocolate. 2 pounds or more.

Place 3 pecans on waxed paper in shape of a turtle, put 1 square of caramel over nuts. Press down and pour chocolate over caramel to cover; cool.

For making just caramels, add chopped walnuts to 1/2 of cooked caramels; cool. Then wrap with waxed paper individually. 1/2 turtles, 1/2 caramels.
