PORK CHOP AND CABBAGE DINNER 
4 - 5 pork chops
2 tbsp. oil
1 med. onion, sliced
1/2 c. white wine
1/4 c. packed brown sugar
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
4 c. shredded cabbage
2 lg. cooking apples cored and sliced
1 tbsp. wine vinegar
Apple cider or juice

Brown pork chops in oil until brown, remove, cook onions, stir the onions with wine, brown sugar, vinegar, salt and pepper. Stir in cabbage and apples. Top with meat. Cover and bake in 350 degree oven for 1 to 1 1/4 hours or until tender. Add a little apple juice or cider to keep moisture in pan while baking.

The flavor produced by the cabbage mixture was excellent. I would probably suggest another cup or two of cabbage since it cooks up so much. Otherwise, this is a very good recipe.

My husband loved this! Made this with a sliced pork tenderloin instead of chops. Instead of the oven I left the tightly covered cast iron casserole pan on top of the stove at a low temp for about 45 min. It was great!! Maybe a bit sweet from the cider and the brown sugar so I will use a little less the next time..
