HOMEMADE BISCUIT MIX 
8 c. all-purpose flour
1/4 c. baking powder
4 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. shortening
2 tsp. cream of tartar

Sift flour and measure. Sift again with baking powder and salt. Cut in shortening until mixture is like crumbs. Keep covered in refrigerator, use as desired. Makes 5 batches of 2 cups mix to batch. 1 cup mix makes enough for two people. Add sugar for shortcake. Bake at 450 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes.
