VEGETABLE-BEEF SOUP 
1 lb. ground chuck
1 lg. onion, chopped
1 clove garlic
3 med. potatoes, diced
3 carrots, scraped, sliced
3 c. water
3 stalks celery, sliced
1 beef bouillon cube
1 qt. tomatoes
1 c. shredded cabbage
1 tbsp. chili powder
2 tbsp. salt

In large heavy pot, saute meat until browned. Add all ingredients and bring to a boil, t urn down heat and simmer 1 hour. Serve a bowl of this to friends who drop by on a cold, rainy evening and they'll be your friends for life.
