GRANDMOTHER'S GINGER CAKES 
1 c. shortening, 1/2 frying
1 c. white sugar
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. molasses, Brer Rabbit (green label)
1 c. hot coffee
2 tsp. baking soda
3 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1 egg

Flour to make soft dough (approximately 4 cups). Drop by teaspoonful. Bake at 350 until done.
