SKILLET STEAK | |
1 lb. round steak cut in thin finger size strips 2 tbsp. shortening 1 c. celery, sliced 1 can French green beans 1 med. bell pepper, sliced 4 tbsp. cornstarch 1 med. onion, sliced 1 lg. carrot, sliced thin 1 can mushrooms 4 tbsp. soy sauce 1 tsp. salt, or less Drain juice of beans into a cup. Add water to make 1 cup. Add cornstarch and set aside. Brown meat in shortening. Combine all ingredients except juice and cornstarch mixture. Heat and cook until vegetables are limp but NOT done. Add liquid; cook until thickened and serve over rice, Chinese noodles, egg noodles or etc. This recipe good for cheaper grades of meat. Add extra cup water and cook meat until liquid gone and meat tender; continue recipe as above. Pork and chicken excellent too. |
