GRATIN DAUPHINOIS | |
2 lbs. potatoes (about 6 average) 1 clove garlic, skinned 1/2 stick butter, flaked Salt and pepper 4 oz. Swiss cheese (Domestic), grated or shredded 1 c. milk Peel potatoes and thinly slice by hand with a grater or use food processor. Rinse potatoes in cold water. Grate or shred cheese and garlic very fine. Use 1 tbsp. of butter to grease a casserole dish no more than 2 inches deep. Put the potatoes in dish in 2 layers. Sprinkle each layer with garlic, cheese, salt and pepper and half the butter. Pour milk into the dish down the side. Bake at 400 degrees for 45 to 55 minutes until the top is well browned. |
