FRENCH ONION SOUP 
5 lg. onions, sliced or chopped
1/4 c. butter
3 tbsp. brown sugar
2 (10 oz.) cans beef broth
1 1/2 c. water
Toasted bread croutons
8 oz. grated Swiss cheese
Parmesan cheese
Salt/pepper

In 3 quart casserole, combine onions, butter and sugar. Microwave on HIGH, covered 6 to 8 minutes, stirring halfway. Add broth and water. Cook on HIGH, covered, 5 to 7 minutes, until steaming hot. Spoon into 4 soup bowls. Sprinkle with croutons and cheese. Add salt and pepper to taste. Microwave on HIGH, until cheese melts, rearrange dishes once. This is also good with a Dutch rusk on each one and then the cheese.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.
