PUMPKIN BREAD 
2 3/4 cups sugar
1 cup (2 sticks) butter
3 eggs
2 cups canned pumpkin
3 1/2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. allspice
2 tsp. salt
3/4 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Combine and cream sugar, butter and eggs; add pumpkin. Sift dry ingredients and add to pumpkin mixture. Stir in nuts.

Butter four (7x3x2-inch) loaf pans. Fill pans half full with batter. Bake in 325°F oven for 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Makes 4 loaves.
