CLASSIC OATMEAL RAISIN 
1 1/4 c. (2 1/2 sticks) butter
3/4 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
3 c. oatmeal
1 c. raisins

Beat together butter and sugars until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Combine flour, baking soda, salt and spices; add to butter mixture, mixing well. Stir in oatmeal and raisins. Drop by rounded tablespoons onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8-9 minutes in a 350 degree oven. Cool 1 minute on cookie sheet; remove to wire cooling rack.
