DELICIOUS FRUIT CAKE 
1 pkg. fruit cake fruit mix
1 lb. walnut meats
8 oz. maraschino red cherries or green if you prefer
Any candied fruit or nuts you'd like to add, like dates or raisins
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. cherry juice (you could add milk or orange juice if not enough cherry juice)
1 tsp. vanilla
4 eggs, beaten
2 tbsp. melted butter or shortening

Put fruit and nuts in large bowl. Mix sugar, salt, flour and baking powder all together and add over the fruit and nuts. Add cherry juice, vanilla and beaten eggs. Add shortening last and mix well with spoon.

Bake in greased and floured loaf pan and press down fruit and nuts. I like to use tin cans ungreased. I put a little foil in bottom of can. To remove fruit cake, I cut out the bottom of can and cut it out with a thin, narrow knife. Bake at 325 degrees until done, about 40 or 45 minutes, until firm to the touch.
