GINGER COOKIES | |
3/4 c. melted shortening 1 c. sugar 1/4 c. molasses 1 egg 2 tsp. baking soda 2 c. flour 1/2 tsp. cloves 1/2 tsp. ginger 1 tsp. cinnamon 1/2 tsp. salt Mix all ingredients well. Chill thoroughly. Form into 1 inch balls and roll in granulated sugar. Place on a greased cookie sheet and bake at 375 degrees for 8-10 minutes. Do not overbake. Makes 4 dozen. Tip: To keep homemade cookies soft and chewy, store in an airtight container with a slice of bread. When the bread becomes hard, exchange it for a fresh slice. Your cookies will stay fresh. |
