BISCUITS AND SAUSAGE GRAVY
8 buttermilk biscuits
3/4 pound of sausage (fatty sausage works best for this)
4 cups of milk
4-8 tablespoons flour

Prepare biscuits as instructed on package. Brown sausage in skillet. As soon as sausage is completely brown, turn to medium heat. Add flour by the tablespoon, stirring constantly. Let the flour turn BROWN before adding another tablespoon (if you don't, your gravy will taste like flour). After you have added enough flour to make the gravy as thick as you like, add milk and stir with whisk.

Serve over biscuits.

I have never made biscuits and gravy, though I've tried my hand at turkey gravy with good results. This is defnitely a GREAT recipe - just needs some "sage" advice, which I find above. Wonderful! Thank you! Now I am a true Georgia Peach, making good ol' biscuits n gravy! So it took me 50 years..... Ha!

The best bisquits and gravel is with Jimmy Deans Hot sausage, about 1/4 bar of creme cheese and only about 2 cups of milk, to make them nice and creamy. THE BEST!

Great recipe!!!! and no the flour does not burn if there is enough grease for it to soak up! It comes out perfect!

Shouldn't you add the flour and milk at the same time? Won't the flour burn?

Five stars! I used only 3 cups of milk because we like it thick, but this recipe rocks! I also added some black pepper to kick it up a bit. It should be noted that on the sausage, I use about a 5 to brown it, and after the milk is put in, you need to turn the heat up to 6 1/2 or 7. I used my spatula instead of a whisk so as not to scratch the nonstick pan. Just be sure to move it around constantly and you will have delicious gravy in no time!

I Use the Jimmy Dean "Sage" Sausage and while I brown the sausage I add about a teaspoon of Butter for added flavor and add some Pepper to cook with the meat. When the Gravy is thickening, I add some salt, more pepper and a tiny dash of Garlic Powder.... Yummy! I do everything by taste, I have never measured anything, not even the flour. The Milk, I just cover a little above the sausage completely. Everyone who has tried it, loves it! My recipe stems from 1995 and I pulled it together from an Indiana recipe similar to the above. I just added my small touches!

This recipe is great, I made it for my boyfriend and he loved it. I have never made biscuits and gravy before and while the first time wasn't perfect it was still really good. Can't believe I actually liked it too! Definitely glad I bookmarked this recipe.
