BALCONY BRAN MUFFINS 
1 c. boiling water
1 lg. shredded wheat biscuits
2 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 1/4 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
2 eggs
2 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
2 c. All bran cereal
1 c. buttermilk or sour milk
1 c. raisins or dates

In small bowl, pour boiling water over shredded wheat biscuits and baking soda; set aside to cool. In large bowl, cream together sugar, shortening and eggs. Add flour and salt. Add shredded wheat mixture, All bran, buttermilk and raisins or dates, stirring just until moistened. Cover and refrigerate overnight or up to 2 or 3 weeks. Fill greased muffin pans 3/4 full. Bake at 400 degrees 20 to 25 minutes. Makes about 16 muffins.
