STRAWBERRY DUMPLINGS | |
6 tbsp. sugar 3/4 c. water 1/2 tsp. vanilla 1 c. + 2 tbsp. flour 2 tsp. sugar 2 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 c. butter 1/2 c. milk 2 c. strawberries, whole 2 tsp. sugar Combine sugar and water in saucepan and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, 5 minutes. Stir in vanilla. Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Cut in butter until mixture is crumbly. Add milk and stir just until well combined. Place berries in pan; pour hot sugar mixture over the top. Immediately drop dough in spoonfuls over berries. Sprinkle with remaining sugar. Bake at 450 degrees until dumplings are done, 20 to 25 minutes. Serve warm with whipped topping. |
