APPLE TORTE 
1 c. flour
3/4 c. brown sugar
1 cube butter
1/2 c. white sugar

4 lg. apples

Cream the topping ingredients with tips of fingers and spread over 4 large apples, peeled and sliced into a shallow pan (e.g. pie or cake pan). Bake in medium hot oven 375 to 400 degrees for 1/2 hour or until golden. Serve plain or with cheese, ice cream or whipped cream. Double recipe for dessert in large rectangular baking dish.
