PUMPKIN DESSERT RING 
1 2/3 c. sifted flour
1 1/3 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
3 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. allspice
1/3 c. whipped soft shortening
1/3 c. water
1/3 c. chopped nuts
2/3 c. raisins
1 c. pumpkin
1 lg. unbeaten egg

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease well a 2 quart ring or angel food cake pan. Sift dry ingredients into a bowl. Add shortening, nuts, raisins, water and pumpkin. Beat 2 minutes at medium speed in a mixer or 300 vigorous strokes by hand. Add egg. Beat 2 minutes, always scraping the bowl. Pour into pan. Bake 45 or 50 minutes. Test with toothpick. Serves 10 to 12 people. It freezes perfectly.
