SHIPWRECK STEW | |
3/4 c. sliced onions 1 lb. ground beef 1/4 c. uncooked rice 3 c. diced raw potatoes 1 c. diced celery 2 c. cooked kidney beans 1 tsp. salt 1/8 tsp. pepper 1/8 tsp. chili powder 1/8 tsp. Worcestershire sauce 1 c. tomato sauce 1/2 c. water This mix can be cooked in 2 ways. Either in the oven or on top in a deep skillet. In either case, in the skillet or deep casserole arrange a layer of onions in the bottom. Next layer of ground beef, then comes the rice and lastly a layer of potatoes. Then celery and top off with the kidney beans. Combine seasoning and add these to the tomato sauce and water. Pour over the layered ingredients, cover tightly and heat to steaming, then turn the heat to the lowest possible point and allow to simmer 2 to 3 hours. If bake; use 325 degrees for approximately same period of time. |
