REFRIGERATOR YEAST ROLLS | |
3 1/2 c. flour 1 pkg. dry yeast 1/4 c. lukewarm water 1 c. hot water 1/2 c. sugar 1 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 c. vegetable shortening 1 egg, beaten Soften yeast in lukewarm water. Pour hot water over sugar, salt, and shortening. Cool to lukewarm. Add 1/2 cup flour and mix thoroughly. Stir in softened yeast, egg, and 1/2 remaining flour. Add enough flour to make soft dough. Turn out on floured board and let "rest" for 5-10 minutes. Knead until smooth and elastic. Place into greased bowl, turning once to grease top. Cover and let stand until doubled. Punch down, cover with damp cloth and refrigerate. When ready to bake, shape into rolls and place in well greased pan. Let rise until doubled. Bake in hot oven (425 degrees) for 10-12 minutes. |
