MONTE CRISTO SANDWICHES | |
4 tbsp. butter 3 slices bread 2 slices roast chicken, turkey, ham or any combination of two 2 slices Monterey Jack, Swiss or cheddar cheese 1 egg, lightly beaten 1/4 c. milk A dash of salt Butter 2 slices of bread on one side, 1 slice on both sides, lay one piece of meat on a buttered slice of bread, add one piece of cheese, top with double buttered bread, add second piece of meat and cheese, bread buttered side down. Press together lightly. Mix egg, milk and salt, dip in sandwich, coating edges as well as sides. Heat 2 tablespoons butter in a skillet or griddle and brown sandwich over moderately low heat about 2 minutes on each side. |
