FIRST LADY BARBARA'S ALL
AMERICAN CLAM CHOWDER
 
3 slices bacon
1/2 c. minced onion
1 can minced clams, reserving liquor
1 c. cubed potatoes
1 can cream of celery soup
1 1/2 c. milk
Dash of pepper

Cook bacon in frying pan until crisp. Remove, drain and break into pieces. Brown onion in bacon fat. Add clams liquor and potatoes. Cover and cook over low heat until potatoes are done. Blend in bacon pieces, minced clams, and other ingredients. Heat, but do not boil. Bacon may be used for garnish. Serves 3.
