FRENCH SILK PIE 
2 egg whites
1/8 tsp. cream of tartar
1/8 tsp. salt
1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. ground pecans

Crust: Beat egg whites, cream of tartar, salt and vanilla until stiff. Add sugar and ground nuts. Shape egg whites into greased pie plate. Bake at 300 degrees for 45 minutes. Cool.

FILLING:

3/4 c. sugar
2 egg yolks
2 whole eggs
2 sqs. bitter chocolate
1 stick butter
1 tsp. vanilla

Filling: Cream butter and sugar. Add 2 egg yolks and beat until well blended. Add whole eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add melted chocolate and vanilla. Pour into cooled crust. Cover with whipped cream and sprinkle with nuts or shaved chocolate. Refrigerate.
