MARINARA SAUCE | |
Makes 4 cups. 5 c. tomato sauce 2 1/2 c. water 2 med. onions, finely chopped (3 c.) 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped 1 tsp. each dried oregano and basil, crushed 1/4 tsp. each dried rosemary and thyme, crushed 1 bay leaf, broken 1/8 tsp. freshly ground black pepper 1/2 tsp. salt 3/4 tsp. sugar Combine all ingredients and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, at least 2 hours. Cool to room temperature and refrigerate or freeze in appropriate containers. |
