SPRITZ (Norwegian) 
1 c. powdered sugar
1 c. butter
2 egg yolks or 1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
1/2 tsp. baking soda
Pinch of salt

Sift and tap sugar to measure 1 cup. Cream sugar and butter; add egg yolks and vanilla; mix well. Sift dry ingredients and blend into creamed mixture.

Place dough in cookie press, using star tip. Shape dough into circles to form wreaths or "S" shapes. Make a test cookie; if it does not hold its shape, add a bit more flour. Bake at 350 degrees for 6-9 minutes or until lightly browned.
