FRIED APPLE TARTS 
3 med. cooking apples, peeled and chopped
1 tbsp. water
2/3 c. sugar
1 tbsp. all purpose flour
1/8 tsp. cinnamon
1/8 tsp. nutmeg
Pastry
Vegetable oil

Combine apples and water in a saucepan cover and cook over low heat about 10 to 15 minutes or until tender. Drain off any liquid in colander. Combine sugar, flour and spices - stir. Add to apples and cook over medium heat 10 minutes or until thickened. Cool and freeze.

PASTRY FOR APPLE TART:

2 c. all purpose flour
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. milk
1/2 c. vegetable oil

Combine flour and salt. Combine milk and oil, stirring well. Pour milk mixture into flour mixture and stir just until blended. Shape dough into ball. Divide into 8 equal balls. Roll each into 5 inch circle.

Spoon about 2 1/2 tablespoons apple filling on one half of pastry circle. Moisten edges of circle, fold over making sure edges are even. Using fork dipped in flour - press edges to seal. Fry pies in 1 inch hot oil (375 degrees) until golden brown turning once. Drain on paper towels.
