STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE 
2 c. sifted all purpose flour
2 tbsp. sugar
3 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. butter
1 beaten egg
2/3 c. light cream
3-4 c. sugared, sliced strawberries
1 c. whipping cream, whipped

Sift together dry ingredients; cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Combine egg and cream; add all at once, stirring just enough to moisten, spread dough in greased 8" x 1 1/2" round pan, building up edges slightly. Bake at 450 degrees for 15 to 18 minutes. Split in 2 layers; lift top off carefully. Butter bottom layer. Spoon berries and cream between layers and over top. Serve warm.
