RAISED POTATO DOUGHNUTS | |
2 c. milk 1 c. sugar 2 c. shortening 1 1/2 tsp. salt 1 c. freshly mashed potatoes 1 1/2 pkg. yeast 1/2 tsp. lemon flavoring 1/2 tsp. cinnamon 1 tsp. vanilla 8 c. sifted flour 1 1/2 c. confectioner's sugar Heat 2 cups milk, add 1 cup sugar, 2 cups shortening, 1 1/2 tsp. salt and 1 cup freshly mashed potatoes, soften 1 1/2 package yeast in 1/4 cup lukewarm water. Stand 5 minutes. Add milk and potatoes, 3 eggs, 1/2 teaspoon lemon flavoring, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon and 8 cups flour. let rise in a warm place, punch it down put on lightly flour and roll out cut doughnut. Cover and let raise until doubled and fry 375 degrees and drain on paper then glaze in (1/4 cup water, 1 1/2 cup powdered sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla) on each side. |
