SWEET AND SOUR PORK 
1/2 lb. pork
salt and pepper

Cut 1/2 lb. pork into 1-inch chunks. Sprinkle with salt and pepper and let stand for a few minutes.

Batter:

1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1/4 c. cornstarch
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 egg, beaten
1/2 c. water
1 tsp. oil

Make a smooth batter with ingredients listed and dip meat into the batter. Fry in 1 1/2 inch of oil until brown.

Sauce:

3/4 c. sugar
1/3 c. ketchup
1 tbsp. soy sauce
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. Accent (optional)
1/2 c. vinegar
3 1/2 tbsp. cornstarch
1/3 c. water

Mix ingredients for sauce together in a small saucepan and cook until thickened. Pieces of green pepper and carrots may be parboiled and added to the sauce for color.

Place hot pork on platter and pour sauce over all. Mix together. Serve with hot rice.
