CHRISTMAS MORNING STRATA 
1 1/2 lb. Italian sausage, casing removed -chop meat
1- 12 oz. loaf French bread (or Italian bread)
2 - 4 oz. cans sliced mushrooms
6 extra large eggs
1 quart milk
2 tsp. Italian seasoning
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1/4 tsp. pepper
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Night before serving, grease 13 x 9 glass baking dish. Cook sausage meat, using slotted spoon remove sausage to paper towel to drain. Cut bread into 1/2 inch cubes. Drain and chop mushrooms. In baking dish combine meat, bread and mushrooms. In large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk and seasonings. Pour egg mixture over sausage mixture. Cover baking dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.

About 1 1/2 hours before serving preheat oven to 350°F.

Bake uncovered 1 hour.

Remove from oven and sprinkle evenly with cheese.

Bake 15 minutes longer or until knife inserted in center comes out clean. Remove from oven and let stand 10 minutes before serving.

Serves 8.
