GRANDMA'S BLACK WALNUT CAKE 
5 eggs
1 c. butter
1/4 c. shortening
3 c. sugar
3 1/2 c. plain flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 1/4 c. buttermilk
3 tbsp. walnut flavoring
1 c. fresh black walnuts

Grease and flour a tube pan. Beat eggs well. Blend butter, shortening, and sugar together with eggs. Sift flour and blend with soda and salt. Add flour mixture, buttermilk, and walnut flavoring alternately to sugar mixture. Stir in black walnuts. Bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 1 1/2 hours.

ICING:

8 oz. cream cheese
1/2 c. butter
2-3 tbsp. black walnut flavoring
1 box confectioners sugar
3/4 c. fresh black walnuts

Cream cheese and butter together until fluffy. Add flavoring. Beat in confectioners sugar. Stir in black walnuts.
