GOLD AND WHITE ANGEL CAKE | |
ANGEL FOOD (PART ONE): 1/2 c. cake flour 6 egg whites 1/8 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar 3/4 c. sugar 1/2 tsp. vanilla Beat egg whites until frothy, add salt, cream of tartar and beat until stiff, but not dry. Add sugar, small amounts at a time, and fold in thoroughly, add vanilla. Sift flour over the top, a little at a time, folding in lightly. Pour into ungreased angel food cake pan. GOLD PART (PART TWO): 3/4 c. cake flour 3/4 tsp. baking powder 6 egg yolks 1/2 c. sugar 2 tbsp. cold water 1/2 tsp. lemon juice Beat egg yolks with sugar and water, add lemon juice. Sift flour and baking powder into this mixture, then add to the top of angel mix, cutting through mixture if desired. Bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 50 minutes. Invert pan immediately, letting hang until cool. No need to frost, it's delicious as is! |
