DINNER ROLLS 
1/4 c. sugar
1 1/2 pkg. yeast
1 tsp. salt
1/4 c. vegetable oil
1 c. scalded milk
4 c. flour
Melted butter
1 egg, beaten
1/4 c. warm water

Dissolve yeast in 1/4 cup warm water. Sprinkle a little of the sugar in yeast water. Put remaining sugar in large mixing bowl. Add salt and oil. Scald milk and add to salt, sugar and oil mixture. Add beaten egg. Add 1 cup flour; beat. Add yeast mixture, keep adding 1 cup of flour at a time until all 4 cups are used.

Turn onto floured board. Knead until bread is not sticky. Put some melted butter in mixing bowl. Add bread, turn bread. Let rise about 1 hour. Punch down. Grease muffin pans. Roll dough into about 1 1/2 inch balls. Put 3 in each muffin cup dipping each in butter first. Let rise 1 hour. Bake at 400 degrees for about 8-10 minutes or until brown. Makes 1 dozen clover leaf rolls.
