VEGETABLE CHOWDER 
1/2 c. uncooked rice
3 chicken bouillon cubes
5 c. water
1/2 c. diced carrots
1 c. diced potatoes
1 onion, chopped
1/2 c. finely cut celery
1 c. canned tomatoes
2 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
1 c. milk

Combine first 10 ingredients in kettle. Bring to boil and simmer 45 minutes. Add milk when ready to serve. Heat almost to boiling and serve immediately.

Note: I used 2 cups stewed (16 ounce can) tomatoes. Real good!!
