HALF POUND CAKE 
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter, softened
1/4 c. shortening
3 eggs
1/2 c. milk
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 1/4 c. flour
1/4 tsp. baking powder

Cream sugar, butter and shortening until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well. Beat in vanilla. Add flour and baking powder to creamed mixture, mix well. Add milk and beat 5 minutes. Pour into a greased and floured 9x5x3 inch loaf pan. Bake about 1 hour at 325 degrees.
