NEXT RECIPE:  GRILLED SHRIMP KABOBS

EASY AND TENDER BABY BACK RIBS
1 rack of baby back ribs
1 bottle of "Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ Sauce"

This is the best way I have found to make baby back ribs that are probably the best tasting ribs I have ever tasted, and the method is so simple that anyone can do it.

First, buy a rack of ribs, and cut it into about 3 chunks, so that it will fit into a pot. Fill the pot with water and bring it to a boil.

Place the ribs sections into the pot and boil it for 45 minutes.

After the ribs boil for 45 minutes, take them out and place them in a large rectangular casserole baking dish and smother them with BBQ sauce (I like "Sweet Baby Ray's" brand, but you can use whatever kind you like best).

Cover them with tinfoil and refrigerate for several hours. Remove from refrigerator and cook them in the oven on 250°F for 3 hours, then remove the tinfoil from the top, and broil them for 5-10 minutes for a crispy top.

If you don't want to broil them, put them on a hot grill for several minutes and grill until top is crispy.

The only thing about this recipe is that it takes planning. I usually boil them on Saturday night, put BBQ sauce on them, cover and refrigerate, then take them out on Sunday morning and put them in the oven.

This way, I have a nice meal for Sunday afternoon.

Almost as good as actually going to the Sweet Baby Rays restaurant and eating them, love that place in Elk Grove Village Illinois!

I forgot to mention, I add seasonings to the water when I boil them, onion powder, salt & spice, and bay leaves.

This is how I've always cooked mine except I add a bag of crab boil to the water. Don't boil too long because that makes them too tender and the meat falls off the bone. You want the meat to still be stuck to the bone pretty good cause that's where you get your flavor. Just boil until half way done then put straight on grill and use sauce of your choice.

This the best recipe ever for ribs. My first time using and cooking ribs with this recipe was in 2012. My husband will not eat anyone else's ribs but mine now. My immediate family and friends, and friends of friends request my ribs. Thanks for this awesome recipe.

Never boil ribs? Ppsshaw! I heard that too and it's wrong! These are the best ribs ever and I've used this recipe many, many times. Only difference is I take 'em straight from the fridge to the grill. Never has anybody given me a bad review - people always comment on the flavor and tenderness. The recipe is a winner!

I made these ribs and it does take planning ahead but it is so easy. I went ahead and broiled mine at the end.

Love love love this recipe. It really can't get any better EXCEPT I always spice up the water when boiling them. Lots of garlic, minced onion, Montreal steak seasoning and I do use Sweet Baby Rays in the water. I grill them after, everyone LOVES them.

My mother used to do this when I was growing up and I have to say they are fall off the bone delicious..BUT ...I'm skeptical this is the best way because boiling takes a lot of the flavor out of the meat itself. However, it's easy and still tastes great and people like what they like!

For all you clowns crying sacrilege about parboiled ribs, get over it! This is not big bubba's Texas bbq smoke off, it's simple a boiled/grill recipe for home cooks who appreciate good eats.

Now then, I do like this recipe, similar to my recipe I have been enjoying for many years. I begin by coating the bottom of a large sauce pan with olive oil. I sweat off a few diced white onions, 2 or 3 diced apples, garlic, brown sugar, and a blend of my favorite seasonings to taste. Once I caramelize the sugar and cook everything down, I add a bottle of apple juice. Bring this to boil, add ribs, and top off with water to cover completely. Bring back to boil while carefully mixing. Lower heat to a simmer and let them go for 2 to 3 hours. Remove ribs and blot dry with paper towel and add your favorite dry rub. Finish by grilling them off for approximately 15 to 20 minutes while adding sauce and flipping (let the sauce caramelize while being careful not to burn). Pull and let rest for approximately 10 minutes, I finish mine by cutting into sections and adding a bit more sauce. So good!

Great recipe! I don't know about -to boil or not to boil - Anyways, I followed this recipe, step by step, easy as 1-2-3 and the ribs came out delicious! I didn't feel like the flavor was lost at all. I had a friend that made them and didn't boil and her's didn't come out as tender... :( Love this recipe!

 Rib Specialist (British Columbia) says:
If you skip the "boiling step" there is no difference in tenderness, but it does take away from the taste.

This is the way I have cooked them for the last 3 times and my family loves them! So tender and with Sweet Baby Rays they are to die for! I just boil for a hour then put in a 350-400°F oven, after basting both sides, for 15 minutes then baste again on one side 15 minutes more turn and baste and 15 minutes more and done.

My husband requested ribs for when his kids came over for dinner, I'm British and ribs were entirely new for me. I read many, many recipes and read the boil or no boil debates. Finally I boiled in Newcastle Brown Ale and some water for about 30 minutes. Slathered the ribs in the sauce overnight, slow cooked for 3 hours and finished them off on the grill. My husband says after eating these ribs he will never order them out again!! Thanks for making these such a hit!
