NELLA'S NEVER TRIED WHITE BREAD
1 pkg. yeast
3 c. flour
1 tbsp. sugar or 1/2 c. honey
1 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. nonfat dry milk powder
1 tbsp. butter
1 1/4 c. warm water

This is to impress single young bachelors!

Pour 1/4 cup warm water into bowl. Add yeast. Stir until dissolved. Stir in other warm liquids, butter, salt, sugar or honey. Keep stirring until evenly mixed. Stir in very slowly so it doesn't splatter, the flour and other dry ingredients. Stir in flour, 1 sifted cup at a time. Beat until dough is very smooth and elastic. Dough should be stiff. Mix at least 5 to 10 minutes.

Dump out of bowl onto well floured board. Flour your hands. Knead the dough to form even elastic consistency. Fold dough in 1/2. Push down and away from you (kneading). If dough gets dry, sprinkle on warm water. Knead for 10 to 15 minutes. Put dough into lightly greased bowl and grease top lightly. Cover bowl with clean dishcloth. Put in warm place with no drafts and let rise until doubled in size (1 1/2 hours). Take dough out and punch down. (Light knead for a few minutes.) Divide into 2 portions and shape. Put in loaf pan 8 x 4 x 2 inches. Cover and let rise 45 minutes. Bake in 350 degree oven until brown (40 minutes).
