SMOTHERED PORK CHOPS 
8 pork chops
Seasoning salt
Pepper
Garlic powder, optional
1/2 c. flour, approximately
1/4 c. vegetable shortening, approx.
1/4 c. water

Sprinkle seasoning salt, garlic powder, over pork chops, dredge in flour. Heat shortening in heavy skillet. Arrange 4 pork chops, brown on one side, turn to brown on other side, repeat until all are browned. Drain fat out of skillet, return pork chops to skillet. Add 1/4 cup water, cover and steam until done about 20 minutes. Serves 4.
