NORMAN MARTIN WALNUT CARROT CAKE 
1 1/2 c. walnuts
3 c. flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
2 c. brown sugar
4 lg. eggs
1 c. oil
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. cloves
3 tbsp. milk
3 c. grated carrots

Grease and flour 3 layer cake pans. Sprinkle each pan with 2 1/2 tablespoons chopped nuts, set aside rest of nuts. Sift flour, baking powder and salt. Blend sugar, eggs, oil and spices. Beat on high until light. Add half of flour, stir well. Blend in rest of flour with milk. Stir in carrots and chopped nuts. Pour in layer pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. Test for doneness. Cool 10 minutes. Frost with buttercream frosting. Decorate with nuts. Make 1 large layer cake.
