OLD FASHIONED CORNBREAD 
1 c. self-rising cornmeal
3/4 c. self-rising flour
1/4 to 1/2 c. sugar
1 c. milk
1 egg
2 tbsp. oil

Put 2 tablespoons shortening and 2 tablespoons butter in a cool iron skillet. Put in oven at 425 degrees. Mix the above ingredients in order listed. Pour in hot pan. Bake 20-30 minutes until golden brown. Should not stick to the pan.
