OLD-FASHIONED CORNBREAD 
1 1/2 c. yellow cornmeal
1/4 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. baking soda
1 egg
1 1/2 c. buttermilk
1/4 c. salad oil

Mix dry ingredients in large bowl. Beat egg with buttermilk and stir into dry ingredients to make a thin smooth batter and stir in oil. Pour batter into a greased 9" baking pan. Bake at 425 degrees for 25 minutes.
